From the Office
Dear Parents,
Mrs. Binzak entered IHM in a contest at TinySaints.com and we need your help! IHM has been entered for the Catholic Schools Week promotion for a free Tiny Saint for every student and a T-Shirt of our patron Saint, Mary, for every staff member! Anyone 18 years of age and older can voter here before Feb. 22: https://www.tinysaints.com/pages/csw-patron-promotion.
Usually we give up Dress-Down days during Lent, but IHM School will support the Our Lady of Hope Clinic by having $2 Dress-Down days for the students every Friday (and one Wednesday!) during Lent. To participate they must pay $2 per day, or $10 for all of Lent to their teachers! The days for this fund raiser are Friday Feb. 16, WEDNESDAY Feb. 21, and the Fridays of March 1, 8, & 15.
I want to let you know that Sister Sue will be taking a leave of absence for the third trimester, starting February 26 through the end of the school year. Sister Sue appreciates your prayers, and asks that you respect her privacy at this time. Please be assured that we are diligently working to find a substitute teacher for the remainder of the school year. We will let you know as soon as we find the right person. If we do not find a replacement by next week, 2nd grade will be covered internally.
A policy reminder, as Spring Break approaches, we would like to remind all of our families about IHM's policy from our handbook for requesting homework ahead of vacation or absences:
"When a student is absent due to a family vacation, it is extremely difficult to anticipate what homework will be assigned because lesson plans are based on students' reaction and application of material. Students who are absent from school due to vacation will have their assignments collected in a portfolio until their return. The student can make arrangements with each teacher regarding the due dates of the assignments. No assignments will be given in anticipation of a vacation."
There is NO CLASS tonight for the Wednesday Night Formation. Ash Wednesday Mass Times are 7:30am at St. Patrick's, 8:30am at Immaculate Heart of Mary, and 6pm at Christ the King.
Catholic schools provide a firm foundation for your child's growth and development. Pray for a year filled with faith and learning. Let's be a community of service to each other and to our world. On behalf of Father Chad, Father Bill, Father Mark, and the teachers and staff of Immaculate Heart of Mary School, God bless you for choosing Immaculate Heart of Mary School!
Peace & Blessings,
Callie Meiller, Principal

IHM Illness Policy:
COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 Communicable Disease/Illness
Check your student for symptoms daily before school:
Fever (100° or higher), chills, or shaking chills
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
New loss of taste or smell
Muscle or body aches
Cough (not due to other known cause, such as chronic cough)
Sore throat, when in combination with other symptoms
Nausea or vomiting, when in combination with other symptoms
Headache, when in combination with other symptoms
Fatigue, when in combination with other symptoms
Nasal congestion or runny nose (not due to other known causes, such as allergies), when in combination with other symptom
*Vomiting and fever may or may not be associated with COVID-19. If your student is experiencing only one of these symptoms, they may return to school once the symptom has resolved after 24 hours without the use of medications.
If one or more of these symptoms are present, please keep the student home. The CDC recommends testing for COVID-19 with a PCR test or rapid antigen test (home test or administered at a pharmacy or clinic). Please contact the school to report illness and absence, and test results.
Please also keep students with these symptoms home:
Fever or chills (without other symptoms): Check temperature with a thermometer. If the temperature is 100 or higher, keep the student home until their temperature remains lower than 100 for at least 24 hours without giving fever-reducing medication such as Tylenol or Ibuprofen.
Nausea/Vomiting/Diarrhea (without other symptoms) within the last 24 hours. Keep the student home until they tolerate their regular diet and there is no nausea/vomiting/diarrhea for at least 24 hours.
A rash or communicable infection (such as pink eye, strep throat, mono etc.) Keep the student home from school and call your health care provider for further medical evaluation.
Students can return to school when their symptoms have cleared, according to the guidelines above.
Thank You
A big “Thank You” to Mr. Hegge for taking such good care of our school and church, especially moving ALL of the snow all winter long, going onto the roof in -20 windchill temperatures, and making sure we don't slip on the ice! Say "thanks" to the hardest working person at IHM!
